Aegis Media expands senior leadership team

- Nigel Sharrocks, Marie-Laure Sauty de Chalon and José Luis de Rojas to take on expanded regional responsibilities, all to join Aegis Media Global Executive Board
- Andreas Bölte also to join Aegis Media Global Executive Board
- Malcolm Hunter to become first chief client strategy officer for Aegis Media
Aegis Media, the media communications business of Aegis Group plc, today announces a number of internal promotions. These include expanded regional responsibilities for three senior leaders, and four new promotions to the Aegis Media Global Executive:
- Nigel Sharrocks, currently CEO of Aegis Media
UK and Ireland, who becomes CEO of Aegis Media Northern
Europe, encompassing the UK and Ireland, the Netherlands
and the Nordics.
- Marie-Laure Sauty de Chalon, currently CEO of
Aegis Media France, who becomes CEO of Aegis Media Southern
Europe, responsible for France, Belgium, Italy, Greece,
Israel, North Africa and the Middle East.
- José Luis de Rojas, currently CEO of
Aegis Media Iberia, who is appointed CEO of Aegis Media
Iberia and Latin America, including Spain, Portugal and
Latin America.
- Andreas Bölte, CEO of Aegis Media Central and Eastern Europe, encompassing Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Russia, the Baltics, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Adriatics, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and South Africa.
Nigel, Marie-Laure, José Luis and Andreas will all join the Aegis Media Global Executive, Aegis Media’s strategy-setting and decision-making board, along with existing members Nigel Morris, CEO of Isobar, Patrick Stahle, CEO of Aegis Media Asia-Pacific, Sarah Fay, CEO of Aegis Media North America and Mark Jamison, CFO Aegis Media.
Aegis Media also announces the promotion of Malcolm Hunter, head of communications planning, as Aegis Media’s first chief client strategy officer. This is a newly created position, and reflects the importance of communications planning at every level of Aegis Media and at the heart of an increasingly integrated business model.

Nigel Sharrocks
Nigel became the CEO of Aegis Media UK & Ireland at the
beginning of July 2004. He joined from Warner Bros Pictures
UK, where he had been the MD since 1999. Over that period he
oversaw the release of more than 150 movies which included the
highly successful Harry Potter and Matrix franchises. Prior
to joining Warner Bros, Nigel spent almost twenty years in the
advertising and media industry, latterly as the MD of Grey
Advertising and chairman of Mediacom, a company Nigel launched in
the early 90’s.
Marie-Laure Sauty de Chalon
Marie-Laure Sauty de Chalon has been CEO of Aegis Media France, a
1,300-strong business, since January 2006. She is also
president of Carat France and sits on the board of
Médiamétrie, CESP and CRTM. Marie-Laure began
her career in 1985 working in print media and television. She
first joined Aegis Media in 1997 as General Director of Carat
Prospective and of Carat Interactive. In 2002, she moved to
New York where she was CEO of Consodata North America. Back
in France in 2003, she was named President of La Grande
Régie, which owns Le Monde Publicité, Régie
Obs and Publicat.
José Luis de Rojas
José Luis de Rojas has a degree in Law and Economics, an MBA
from IESE in Barcelona and postgraduate business
studies from the Rotterdam School of Management. Before
joining Aegis Media in 2000, he worked in investment banking,
business strategy consultancy and retail banking. He has
spent part of his career in Latin America managing M&A and
corporate development projects. As CEO of Aegis Media Iberia
since 2000 he has helped to diversify and more than double Aegis
Media’s operations in Spain and Portugal.
Andreas Bölte
Dr. Andreas Bölte has been CEO of Aegis Media Central Europe
& South Africa since September 2006. In this role he is in
charge of 23 markets with more than 1,600 employees and sits on the
board of OMG, the German association of media agencies. Before he
took over this role, he worked for more than two years as CFO with
responsibility for Germany, Central Europe and South Africa.
Prior to joining Aegis, Andreas worked for Bertelsmann AG for over
10 years. Before he left, he was Vice President and Chief Financial
Officer for BMG Entertainment Germany, Switzerland, Austria &
Eastern Europe, and Managing Director BMG European Services for BMG
Entertainment Europe.
Malcolm Hunter
Malcolm Hunter is chief client
strategy officer for Aegis Media, running strategy globally for
both Carat and Vizeum. His responsibilities include agency
positioning, process, insight and tools development to help clients
understand and take advantage of this transforming world. He has
been the global head of strategic planning in creative agency
Ammirati Puris Lintas, a partner in a brand consultancy Red Spider
and moved into media in 2003 as a founding partner of The Vizeum
network. After the successful set up of Vizeum he moved
across to Carat Global Management. Since that period Carat has won
over $2bn dollars in international new business and has twice been
named Campaign International Agency of the Year.
